The Conrad McRae Youth League has been a breeding ground for great basketball talent in the borough of Brooklyn and also throughout New York City. Now in its 25th year of existence, this tournament has produced plenty of high school stars and also players that have gone on to play collegiate basketball on all levels and also professionally, including in the NBA. The Conrad McRae Youth League also has a partnership with the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League to create a comprehensive, scalable model for player development. The tournament was named after the late, great Conrad McRae, a New York City basketball legend who was a standout in the late 1980's at Brooklyn Tech High School and was one of four players from New York City to play in the 1989 McDonald's All-American Game alongside future NBA player Kenny Anderson and also Jamal Faulkner and Darryl Lane. He went on to play four seasons at Syracuse University, where he graduated in 1993. Following college, he went on to play professionally in various countries. He passed away on July 10th, 2000. Although Conrad is no longer here in the physical, his spirit continues to live on through his league, which has been a great staple during the summertime.
